These are easy dumplings to make and super tasty, for meat eaters you can use minced chicken or pork but I made them vegan. Here’s how I do it:
Ingredients
Dumpling/wonton wrappers I found great vegan ones square shaped
1 block tofu or protein of choice
3 cloves garlic chopped fine
3-4 chopped scallions
3 tablespoons sesame oil
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 tablespoon agave nectar
2 tsp sesame seeds I used black but white are fine
For Dipping Sauce
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tsp hot chili oil
1 tsp rice vinegar
1 tsp agave nectar
1 tablespoon water
Chop the tofu or protein of choice very fine, add the sesame oil to a hot pan, add the garlic and tofu and simmer till firm then add the soy sauce, vinegar, agave and simmer till liquid is absorbed then add scallions and 1 tsp sesame seeds simmer another 2 mins set aside to cool.
Fill each square with about 1 heaping tsp of filling brush the inside edges with water or egg whites and fold into a simple Diamond shape seal edges you can take 2 corners and connect them for another shape seal with water or egg white. Steam the dumplings for 6-7 mins in a steamer then I like to pan fry them back in the same skillet till they are browned. Combine all the ingredients for the dipping sauce in a small bowl, serve dumplings hot with additional scallion and sesame seeds scattered all over.
