I mace a wonderful sweet/hot sauce using my friend Karen’s spicy mango/pineapple preserves but chili pepper and agave can be used also and any type of vegan protein chunks I used Gardein vegan pork bites, here’s how I do it:
Ingredients
1 head of broccoli cut into florets
2 cloves garlic chopped
1 inch of ginger grated or 1 tsp ginger powder
1-2 cups vegan protein chunks
4 scallions chopped
For the sauce:
3 tbs oyster sauce
2 tbs rice vinegar
1 tbs soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
2 tbs water
2 tbs spicy fruit preserves or 2 tbs agave nectar plus 1 tsp hot chili flakes
In a skillet steam your broccoli till tender hen remove, add 2 tbs neutral cooking oil add garlic and ginger and simmer 2-3 mins then add the broccol, toss set a lid and simmer 3-5 mins. In a bowl add all the liquid ingredients and stir. Add the sauce to the skillet and simmer with the broccoli 2-3 mins then create an empty spot in center of the skillet and add the vegan protein and simmer 2-3 mins per side then add the scallions and toss everything till combined. Serve piping hot over fragrant jasmine rice or grain of choice.
