I love oatmeal in the morning and I find doing this overnight soak creates a smooth creamy oatmeal that you can have cold, room temperature or hot. The ratio of oats to milk is 1:1 so if it's a cup of oatmeal add a cup of milk.
Ingredients
1 cup oatmeal, I like steel cut, don't use instant oatmeal use the kind you have to cook
1 cup milk of choice I'm using almond milk
Add ins: I added pumpkin seeds, dried cranberries, golden raisins and flax seeds but you can add anything dried
Sweetener: I used 1 tbs coconut sugar you can use any sweetener: agave, maple syrup, etc and adjust it more/less to your liking
Place it all in a mason jar or a bowl that has a lid, let it soak overnight and enjoy it in the morning topped with fresh fruit and a drizzle of maple syrup. You can microwave it or heat it in a pot if you want it warm/hot.
