Chinese Broccoli With Noodles in Hoisin Sauce and Honey/Lime/Black Sesame Seed Crusted Tofu

For the lunar new year I made this Asian dish for luck, prosperity and longevity. Here‘s how I do it:

Ingredients:

1 bunch Gailan, Chinese Broccoli stems trimmed off.

3 cloves garlic chopped

1 chili pepper or 1/2 tsp red chili flakes

Any long rice noodle

1/4 cup hoisin sauce or any stir fry sauce

1/2 tsp sesame oil

1 tsp rice vinegar

1 block super firm tofu blotted dry cut into rectangular strips

For the Crust:

2-3 tbs corn starch

1 tsp chili powder

1 tsp paprika

2 tsp black sesame seeds

juice of 1 lime

1 tbs honey or agave nectar

Trim the stems off the greens and steam for 3 mins drain and set aside. In a large skillet add a little veg oil then add the garlic, ginger, chili pepper and pinch of salt, simmer 3 mins then add the sesame oil and rice vinegar, add the greens, hoisin sauce and incorporate and simmer 2-3 mins. In a bowl combine the cornstarch and dry spices, dredge the tofu slices and in a separate skillet add a little oil and fry the tofu on each side for 5 mins till golden and crisp. Remove from skillet. Cook noodles per package and add to the greens and incorporate and set in very low heat. In the other skillet add the honey and lime and when hot add the tofu and coat on each side then sprinkle both sides with sesame seeds. Plate the greens/noodles in bowls and top with the crusted tofu.
